Accident reports now available online
DETROIT — Beginning on Wednesday, February 7, 2007 , all vehicular accident reports will be made available through the Detroit Police Department’s (DPD) official website (http://www.detroitmi.gov/police/). For the first time ever, citizens seeking documents related to their involved accidents from the DPD will have the ability to retrieve their reports from the comfort of their homes or any computer terminal with internet access with the “TRACView” online documentation management system.
Each online accident report purchased through TRACView costs $15.00. The DPD will continue to provide copies of accident reports at the DPD’s Public Records service counter (located at Police Headquarters) for $10.00. Police crime reports will not be available through the TRACView system at this time.
Only accident reports scanned into the system after January, 1, 2007 , will be available for online purchase. Older reports remain available through the DPD’s Public Records service counter.
