Chattanooga Police officials say the department should save about $4,000 a year in paper costs by offering traffic accident reports online instead of requiring people to come to the Police Services Center on Amnicola Highway for copies.
Michigan based Docview LLC will contract with the CPD to offer the service to the public online for $12 per accident report with $7 going the CPD. $7 is the current charge the CPD charges for copies of accident reports at the Police Service Center.
The online service, called the TRACView System, should make it more convenient for anyone to get accident reports and save the CPD labor costs, according to city officials.
Docview is already offering the service in a number of cities across the U.S. with most in Michigan. Police in Johnson City, Tennessee are the first to use Docview's service in Tennessee.
