Chattanooga Police Department accident reports will be available soon online. Dennis Norwood, who heads city police records, said the city plans to contract with Docview LLL, a Michigan firm.

Docview will provide a scanner to the city, and all accident reports will be scanned and emailed to the firm, which will then post them online. Someone wanting to get a copy of a report can have access to the report by paying Docview $12.

It will still be possible to come to the city police headquarters on Amnicola Highway to get an accident report for the current $7 charge.

Mr. Norwood said the city will save about $4,000 a year in paper costs because the city now makes eight copies of each accident report.

He said an employee is tied up fulltime making the accident report copies, but will now be available for other duties.

The city will receive $7 of the $12 amount paid to Docview for each accident report.
